Let’s Dream

I ache to see God in his splendor bring change to our hurting world. I, like many young dreamers, dream of revolutionary change that will set the captives free, let compassion cover the unjust, and give the fatherless a family that will never leave nor forsake them.

I think about this day and night, foolishly believing God could use simple hands and feet to usher in hope and healing. I ponder the greats, King, Mandela, Lincoln, and many more. I sense their compassion and drive was birthed out of discontent. Their discontent could not be ignored and what can only be described as the favor of God was on them to lead through the battle of ideas, beliefs, and depravity. They led with bravery and conviction for the benefit of those that would come after them. Many know freedom because they were willing to lead through tumultuous times. I believe we are each capable of leading change like that, maybe not on that scale but in our own ways. Change that we could only dream of.

Isaiah 58 tell us,

this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.
7 Share your food with the hungry, and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them,
and do not hide from relatives who need your help.

8 “Then your salvation will come like the dawn,
and your wounds will quickly heal.
Your godliness will lead you forward,
and the glory of the LORD will protect you from behind.
9 Then when you call, the LORD will answer. Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply.

“Remove the heavy yoke of oppression.
Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumors!
 10 Feed the hungry,
and help those in trouble.
Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.
11 The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry
and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.
12 Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.

Let’s dream… to rebuild broken walls and restore homes, to let our light shine like the noon day sun.

Let our godliness guide us. Let’s be people of peace in chaotic times. Let our salvation come like the dawn.

Let’s dream.
